On January 1, 1995, Faith Covenant Church held its first service in the basement of Pastors Larry & Janet Herbert's home. From that beginning of the 500 square foot basement and ten people, FCC now enjoys twenty three thousand square feet and a congregation of one hundred plus members. Size is really not the most important thing that separates FCC's present from its beginning. Growth in spiritual maturity and the understanding of the Lord and the Word of God has been very measurable. The congregation of FCC enjoys Spirit led worship and ministry. Even though there have been exceptional times in God's presence, the ministry team has not attempted to duplicate those times but to use them to grow.
One of the most repeated comments that is heard at FCC is that everyone feels accepted as well as challenged to grow in the things of God. Pastor Larry has said many times "We're still breathing, we can change!" Change is one "constant" that we have. The Word of God does say that we will go from Glory unto Glory, Strength to Strength, and Faith to Faith.
Message from the Pastors
One of the greatest joys to a pastor is to see people grow in the Word of God, in wisdom, and in their closeness with the Lord. John wrote in 3 John, verses 3 and 4, "For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." The truth is the Word of God. The Word has answers for every circumstance, every situation and every problem. We have been called to this area by God to teach people how to walk in the truth and apply the principles of God's Word in their every day life. We believe that God's fundamental building block is a strong family. After all He did establish the family before He established the church! The Lord is building a strong local church in Faith Covenant Church by developing strong families, strong marriages and youth and children that are being brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
